Oak Ridges Medical Diagnostic Imaging (ORMDI) was established to service the diagnostic imaging and cardiac monitoring needs of the growing population in York Region. Our facility offers a full range of modalities including nuclear medicine, ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, bone mineral densitometry and cardiac testing, all utilizing state-of-the-art equipment in a brand new facility.

Our goal is to provide a wide range of diagnostic imaging and cardiac monitoring services over extended hours with short waiting times and rapid report turn-around. The variety of services offered also permits several investigations to be performed at one location, usually at one appointment. Examples would include the investigation of TIA, with carotid doppler ultrasound, echocardiography and Holter monitoring all available at ORMDI. Similarly, an echocardiographic examination can be performed at the same time of nuclear cardiology testing and nuclear thyroid uptake. A scan can be performed at the same time as the thyroid ultrasound. Mammography and bone mineral densitometry can be conveniently obtained in one appointment.

We look forward to working with you and providing patients with diagnostic imaging services in a timely manner.

Pulmonary Function Test

In Canada, COPD is the fourth most common cause of hospitalization among men and the sixth most common among women. It is the third leading cause of death worldwide. Despite this, most people with COPD are not diagnosed until the disease is well advanced. In order to increase your index of suspicion, think about ordering a PFT study on any of your patients who are / have:

  • Smoker or ex-smoker, 35 years of age and older;
  • Persistent cough;
  • Phlegm production;
  • Activity-related shortness of breath;
  • Frequent colds or respiratory tract infections.

If COPD is detected early, there are steps that can be taken to prevent further lung damage and to help the patient feel better.
